LOCAL RULES: What they say and what they mean
*Left of #13 creek, tee shot only out of bounds: Pretty straightforward. If your tee shot crosses left of the creek you must re-tee and fire away again. However, if a tee shot into the creek requires a drop on the front of the ladies tee box, and the next ball hit from that position crosses left of the creek, that ball is in play where it lies. If you don’t want to cross the creek and hit it, you must declare it unplayable and play your next shop with penalty stroke from where you hit the original shot.
*On hole #9, for speed of play, you may hit a provisional ball if your ball went into a hazard area: This applies to balls both hit into the creek between the tee boxes and the fairway and for balls hit into the creek when approaching the green. So what happens if you hit a provisional ball? First, if the original ball in not in the hazard, that ball remains the ball in play. If the original ball is in the hazard, but is unplayable, the provisional ball becomes the ball in play. If however, you hit a provisional ball, and your original ball is in the hazard in a playable position, you must play the original ball no matter how great a shot you made with the provisional ball. You don’t have a choice if your original ball is playable. If you’re sure your ball is in the hazard, and you don’t want to even consider playing it from the hazard, take your penalty stroke, drop in the appropriate area, and hit your next shot without calling it a provisional.
*On hole #9, if your ball lands in yellow marked hazard area, you may use the drop area: The yellow marked hazard area is that area surrounding the green. In addition to the choices given by the rules of golf for a ball in a water hazard, you are also given the option of playing your next shot from the designated drop area. Also, if you think your ball may not be in the hazard, or may be playable in the hazard, following the local rule above, you may play a provisional ball from the drop area.
*You may remove stones from any bunker.
